Consultative Meeting On the Dev't Of The 7th National Anti Corruption Strategy In Mbale District.
As you are aware the office of the president has the mandate to provide aligned political leadership and coordinate national efforts in the fight against corruption in this country.
Over the years, the government has put in place a range of institutional, legal, policy and regulatory framework to strengthen the national anti corruption initiative. Notable progress has been registered in enforcement efforts, with an increase in investigations, prosecutions, and convictions of Corruption related cases and collective citizen action.
To rebuild a sound governance on ethics and integrity, consequences of moral decadence have to be contained to lead a prosperous society that cherishes moral values and principles.
The meeting was a courtesy call to the district integrity forum including civil society and business community for inclusive consultative Meeting in the chairperson's chambers at the district headquarters in Maluku.
DCAO Mbale district, Cheptoek Juliet opened the session on behalf of the chief administrative officer in her absence, she expressed gratitude to the office of the president for the big milestone in ensuring corrupt free governance.
"The team has been constituted and inaugurated successfully and we are good to go, the rate of corruption is now minimal citing areas of concern with district service commission and PDM where drastic measures have under taken in ensuring zero tolerance to corruption," DCAO reminded the participants.
The district chairperson, Mafabi Muhammad in his remarks highlighted several developments in the district where corruption should not prevail because service delivery remains a centre of interest in the public domain.
"As leaders and stakeholders, we have the mandate to wipe out these vices and render transparent and effective governance to our people." Chairperson Mafabi Muhammad said.
Meanwhile, Musa Modoi from the office of the president on governance and security program secretariat and advisor of human rights and accountability in his presentation projected on enlisting the opinion and commitment of relevant stakeholders on strategic interventions and actions against corruption over the next five years.
"This is in line with the requirements of the implementation of the national development plan IV".
The consultant meeting today therefore seeks to review the effectiveness of the current strategy, assess the corruption landscape and emerging trends, prioritize issues, and propose strategic interventions to inform the next phase of the NACS, says Modoi Musa advisor human rights and accountability in the office of the president.
Bayole Stanley, Mbale district RDC called for corrupt free communities where key players should stop bribing for slots or posts in the district.
"Integrity should start from the lower classes, cultural institutions, churches and mosques, vacation institutions and universities for prevailing behavioural change in shaping moral decadence in this country".
RDC says a lot of monies over nine billion shillings has been lost in corruption in the entire country, there should be a positive mindset to enhance corrupt free societies.
