MBALE DISTRICT PAC MONITORING TEAM FOR SPOT CHECKS!


The Local government public accounts committee of mbale district stepped out for monitoring exercise on the projects assessed in the financial years 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 respectively.

Mbale district local government consists of 14 sub counties and three town councils as lower local government units and rural urban centres respectively. With consolidated funds from government, the "Wanachi" meaning the netizens receive the funding through respective ministries in terms of service delivery at village, parish and sub county levels.

The monitoring committee started with bungokho central at Nabumali town council and later moved to Nyondo demonstration primary school

Leaving that a side, several institutions were selected to ascertain the progress and performance output regarding the financial resource envelope during the budgetary and resource dispatchment for renovations and full construction across education and health departments.

Many projects kicked off in the financial year ending 2024 including Kama and Lwamboba health facilities for health development, at Namawanga, Busiu and  Nyondo demonstration primary schools and others under education department, the focus was on renovation progress citing delayed works and uncomplete parts as witnessed during monitoring.

At Namawanga health centre three, the patients' turn up on monthly attendance is exceptional as explained by Kayi Brenda, a clinicial officer during the visit. She highlight on the growing corncen of numbers beyond ten thousand that visit the facility including the neighbouring districts of Manafwa and Tororo.

Namawanga primary school had satisfactory progress adding conducive environment for learners.

PACs play a crucial role in upholding transparency, accountability, and the effective use of public resources. They act as a check on government spending and can identify areas where improvements can be made in financial management.
