District Highlights on Integrated Site Handover For projects in Financial Year 2025/2026
Mbale district local government continues to plan and appropriate funds to areas with need but also improving the services across the district. Several sites were handed over to contractors meeting the requirements to execute works in accordance to project costings and complete the works in time since 75% of funds are already in the district account.
Under Water Sector: 4 Boreholes were launched each costing 22.5 million shillings.
1-Khamoto village, Bungokho Sub county-01
2- Murumba village in Mbale Town Council-01
3- Butsesole village in Lukhonje sub county-01
4- And lastly Bumbobi Sub county-01
Deputy Chief Administrative officer, Mbale district Juliet Cheptoyek cautioned contractors on irregularities citing incidences of concern in the previous financial years.
"90 days is enough for you to give us results since these projects are already cleared." She started
She says the water boreholes are aiding homes with safe and clean water so that mothers can administer households on hygiene and Sanitation.
Community Perspectives
Nabafa Jane, a resident of khamoto village, khamoto parish in Bungokho sub county while talking to us stressed the need for water since distance has beaten her efforts to get clean water elsewhere.
Says the available water source is about 15 kilometres away which is really difficult due to high population and long distance
She believes this project has come to save live regarding the past as history.
Nekesa Doreen a resident in Butsesole village Lukhonje sub county expressed gratitude to the district team and community stakeholders in lobbying a mere dream to look a reality!
The District Water officer, Wandera Simon while giving the findings the developments, expressed teamwork with communities in actualising proper water spots are identified and earmarked for drilling.
Sunrise Water drilling company LTD is contracted to adequately perform diligently and hand over sites in May 2026
Deputy Resident District Commissioner
Kashaka Sam, appealed to beneficiaries for continuous support and progress with Government programs for better living. His remarks signaled trust in the district leadership and teamwork.
Under the education department, Namawanga Primary school to benefit from over 190 million shillings including school fencing and Askari house, two blocks of five stance pit latrines for both boys and girls, five stance pit latrine for teachers and an Incenrator.
Lastly, the health department summed it up with a Staff house plus a Stance pit latrine costing over 250 million shillings at Bumasikye health centre III in Bumasikye Sub county.
All the projects are expected to be complete in a period of 90 days by May 2026
The district chairperson, Mafabi Muhammad appreciated the communities for support and trust, noting that his leadership has delivered to the Wanaich with the support from the NRM Government.
"I want to thank you for the support in my entire term of office and for allowing us serve you all, as you are aware my term comes to an end in may 2026 and I am pleased all has been done as planned." He said maintaining his remarks during the site handovers
