GOLDEN MOMENT, BUSOSA THRILLED FOR HOME COMING SINCE 1983.

BUBULO SECONDARY SCHOOL IN BUGISU LAUNCHES A DRIVE TO REVIVE ITS STANDARDS.
                   FROM 1984-2024
Bubulo Secondary School alumni under its umbrella Bubulo Secondary Old Students Association (BUSOSA) has set September 28th as a day where all roads will lead to their school as the school commemorates 4o years of existence.
They are set to make this visit in a bid to forge a way forward to resurrect the academic performance for the 40-year-old academic institution which has for many years deteriorated.
The BUSOSA Kampala chapter launched the home coming drive on Sunday from UMI. Present at the launch were Dr. Bernard Wabukala, a lecturer at the Department of Applied Economics Makerere University Business School (MUBS); Geoffrey Wambuya, an administrator with KCCA; Lydia Nabwire, a journalist working with a government media house; Michael Joeb Kisaka; Eng. Wamono Paul, working with Powam Consults Limited and Andrew Mupuuya, an entrepreneurship based in Kampala to mention.
“We are proud of where we came from, but not happy with its current shape,” lamented Dr Wabukala.
The school has produced many professionals, some of whom are working in high offices in the country and overseas.

"Background of Bubulo Secondary School"
..............................................................
Bubulo Senior Secondary School was established in 1983 as a community school in partnership with government of the Republic of Uganda.

But since education was largely an institutionalised social sector especially through faith based services, the local community through the church advocated for the establishment of the school to cater for the children from low economic background.

Given that the community already had Bubulo Girls High School for female learners, the community advocated for a mixed post primary institution hence the enrollment of both male and female learners.

From inception, the school stood as an outstanding O'level Day academic institution since its first UCE sitting in 1986. In 1993, Bubulo Sec School was elevated to A'level status.

The school's headship journey has seen it go through numerous Headteachers that include:
1. Mr. Butala Xavier
2. Mr. Butsatsa Zacharia
3. The Late Charles Johnson Khaukha (CJ)
4. Mr. Wanansi Samuel
5. Mrs. Margaret Watuwa
6. Mr. Sebakaki John Patrick
7. Mr. Oduku John
8. Mr. Womulibu Micheal
9. Mr. Elungati
10. Rose Akello Kuloba the current Head teacher.

Among the Notable Old students include;
1. Pro. Moses Khisa Wanyera-Assoc. Prof. University of North Carolina
2. Prof. Filex Wamono of College of Statistics and Applied Economics.
3. Dr. Alice Wabule the Dean of Students Dept of Ethics Cavendish University.
4. Dr. Mwasa Abubaker of Mathematics Dept. Busitema University.
5. Dr. Anthony Wamashuu the Resident Dr. Bugiri District Referral Hospital
6. Dr. Benard Wabukala of Dept of Applied Economics (MUBS) who now doubles as the patron of BUSOSA.

Like any other post-independence school, the school gained prominence in the late 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s.

However, in the recent years the school has faced several challenges like declining academic performance, dilapidated infrastructure and drop in enrollment amid departure of teachers.

It is against this background that the old students have launched a campaign to reclaim the glory of their Alma Matta through a Re-Union slated for the 28th September 2024 dubbed *"Home Coming 2024"*

While speaking the launch of the Kampala Chapter Mobilization drive for the Home coming 2024, Dr. Wabukala echoed that the onus is upon us who were made by Bubulo Secondary School to combine our efforts and take the lead in reclaiming the lost glory of our school because no one else will do it for us.

“Aware that OBs and OGs  of BUBULO SSS are spread all over the globe, we embark on this collective action to try to elevate our school to the horizons we want it to be. As former students, we are part of the direct and larger stakeholders with a duty to inspire and support current and future learners through our school,” Wabukala added.

“Our mandate is not to substitute the roles by the founding institution and government. Rather, it is to consolidate our efforts, in several dimensions, and add them to the already existing interventions by the national authorities. Academic excellence is at the forefront of our drive. We shall unveil the proposals towards this cause in conjunction with the school administration. For now, I urge us all to rally behind this call, bring all stakeholders and well-wishers, and push our school and community to greater heights,” Wambuya implored.
