Highlights on PDM, Microscale Irrigation Scheme And National Oilseed project for Mbale District
The Production department continues profiling several projects underway on Parish development model (PDM), Irrigation schemes and National Oilseed project (NOSP). These stories are real life exhibitions with farmers' inclusivity across the district.
We bring you these farming perspectives and sessionional farming corners of evidenced narratives and assessments from beneficiaries in Bubyangu, Bufumbo and Bungokho-Bumbobi Sub counties.
Government programs are being implemented to benefit suitable farmers most especially those under Parish development model, microscale irrigation schemes and National Oilseed projects (NOSP).
The Chief Administrative Office has the mandate to monitor and evaluate these projects but most importantly ensure that they meet up target objectives and rightful beneficiaries for responsive feedback.
This week, several farms and farmers were visited by the District Production and Marketing Office for assessment and progress on the various enterprises and other projects citing steady incomes at household level as witnessed in the fields.
Wanakina George Davidson, the district production and marketing officer did the casts in these areas and now reports.
Similarly, Irrigation and National Oilseed projects are underway to benefit farmers in areas paced to thrive on production and productivity, household incomes are expected to rise at the entrepreneurial levels with the interlocking skills and technology.
Farmers absorbed in PDM, Irrigation schemes and National Oilseed projects across the district convened at Mbale senior secondary school, Sam Kuloba hall for the assessment and progress feedback and how best farmers can adapt technologies experimented to improve on the yields for sustainable growth and value chain production breaking barriers to vulnerability at parish level.
Over 450 participants including Extension workers, Parish Chiefs, Community Development Officers, farmers, attended a PDM review meeting and the sessions were presented in accordance to the responses collected during the field assessments.
