Mbale District Technical Team For Uganda Climate Smart Agriculture Transformation Project (UCSATP)


Buginyanya zonal agriculture research and development institute covers 27 districts as a transformative project that carries out research on climate resilience and sustainable interventions in crop, livestock and fisheries under NARO

Mbale district team visited Buginyanya research institute to understand the technologies and share experiences on  coffee integration and banana sustainable system land management, and how best to increase Arabica coffee productivity and promotion of quality Arabica coffee planting materials.
This is aimed at producing high quality seed and seedlings across different coffee varieties including SL 14, SL 28, KP 162, KP 423, banana varieties including pests and diseases. 
The Chief Administrative Officer, Angela AKURUT stressed that the core team is ably transformative and their coming is an ideal for the better result thereafter, she urgued the institute for continuous support whenever such courtesy calls emerge and most especially on climate smart and agroecology.

Dr. Nasser Kasozi, the director of research, Buginyanya ZARDI acknowledged and remarked on the presence as a bridge between the institute and the stakeholders in value chain adaptability.
He attributed the different varieties to pests and diseases control and tolerance for sustainability, improving varieties of Arabica and Robust coffee due to weather factors.

Leaving that aside, the director called for farmers' zeal to produce more quality coffee and tap opportunities in return. He says farmers are big drivers of the agronomy in many societies.
