Routine Monitoring Awakens Hope On Soya Bean Farming In Bukiende Sub county.


As the district monitoring team continues with its mandate to supervise projects in stipulated communities in the district, the community access road and training of oilseeds farmer groups in various production and productivity aspects has been the charter of Mbale district local government in ensuring income and food continues growing at household level.
 Speaking at the demonstration site, DPMO Wanakina Davidson hitched that soya growing has two aspects which he related as being, one to produce local oils and reduce on importation costs since they do not favour consumers on the local market. He pointed out the effects of good yields as  drought and wilt. 

Massette Wafulu Micheal, a soya bean farmer and chairperson of Buyaka B agro and catering groups comprising 35 members, appreciated the district leadership and production department for agro inputs and other support, revealing that the group is now a fully operational corporate society with 175 subscribers.
Massette applauded the district team for sparing time to visit them and register their concerns. He appealed for more support, stressing that the corporate society needs more funding to step up for beneficiaries.

"Your efforts and work is evident, the results are yielding, utilize the extension workers for advice and preparation during planting season and any capacity building needed, please contact the district team for assistance." Juliet Cheptoek, the Deputy chief administrative officer said. She expressed gratitude to the district leadership most especially on agricultural spaces towards improving households.

The district Chairperson Mafabi Muhammad dwelled on performances as the main focus and assured farmers of grants through the sector development plans. 
" Continue working together for better and sustainable progress so as to improve on yields and capitation grants." He emphasised during the visit at the demonstration farm in Buyaka B village, Bugwanyi parish in Bukiende Sub county.

ARDC Manana Henry, from the office of the president in Mbale district, highlighted such progress as an indication of transformed farmers and appreciated the production department for routine efforts to realization and government support towards "wanachi" in bigger prospects. He appealed to farmers to prioritise  on good farming mechanisms and improved seeds so that the market can be useful on value returns.
Putting farming matters aside, the monitoring team extended its lens on unfinished parts of the community access road where the remaining bridge at Nasasa Aswan Kaunyaki road and a few kilometres yet to begin as reported by the site project engineer.
