Selected farmers receive solar irrigation machines in Mbale district.

79 solar-powered irrigation machines were given to 79 farmers, courtesy of a World Bank project worth 3 billion shillings for the 2024/25 financial year in Mbale district 

The irrigation machines were distributed to selected horticulture farmers across various counties who do farming near water sources, including Bungokho, Busano, and Bumbobi, aimed at boosting agricultural production during the dry season.
The DPMO Wanakina George Davidson, said the machines would benefit farmers engaged in micro-scale farming dealing in horticulture. He explained that 79 farmers were selected in the first phase, with each contributing 30% of the cost and the government covering the remaining 70%.
Muhammad Mafabi, the LC5 chairperson of Mbale district, urged the beneficiaries to utilize the machines effectively to increase food production and commercial farming. 
Walabukha Sam, a beneficiary from Busano sub-county, expressed gratitude for the machines, saying they would enable him to farm throughout the year.
