Model Farmers Equipped With Motorised Thresher Machines And Fertiplus Fertilizer!
The selected farmers from the 14 sub counties and 3 town councils received a demonstration training courtesy of MAAIF under the coffee department today. The demonstration took place at the district works department before the handover ceremony.
10 Rice motorised thresher machines and 732 bags of Fertiplus fertilizer from Agriculture Value Chain Project (AVCP) were issued to selected farmers across the entire district.An appeal to farmers from Mutuwa Regina Mabonga representing CAO was a call to desist from selling the fertilizer and other equipment but focus on modern farming so that poverty is reduced at family levels.
The district chairperson, Mafabi Muhammad in his remarks affirmed to farmers that the extension workers at sub counties and town councils are evidence of technology and skills to guide farmers at their respective enterprises.
He stressed that his leadership looks at the role models and equipping farmers, following performance and service delivery at all levels.
"We want to encourage you to uphold and support government programs like this very one today".
Our people should continue tapping such programmes to look better because when there is food and money in their pockets, poverty is eradicated in homes and communities. He added that educating children and putting up hard work, leads to vibrant money economy!
The chairperson floored in affirmative.
He appreciated the government for supporting "Wanaichi" and keeping progress on household income and mostly to the farmers. He said!
The Resident District Commissioner, Bayole Stephen thanked the district leadership, technical staff and farmers saying the selection is evident, the farmers are responsible citizens who will not disappoint but add value with the acquired inputs. He echoed.
The RDC asserted that the passion for farming is his other job that has stood for time because the country moves on agriculture as a backbone.
He called on the extension workers to be practical and show farming mechanisms to the rest in their communities.
"Be passionate about what you do because it brings confidence and zeal in reality".
In his closing remarks, RDC encouraged farmers to intercorporate cocoa farming and tap unlimited prospects. It's one way to connect with other agro diversifications.
"You should not sell off the inputs given to you by the government, it is meant to support you and develop together as farmers and as a nation". He said
