TWIST IN PDM ENTERPRISES, BUMASIKYE SUB COUNTY EMERGES WITH SUCCESSFUL STORIES.

Mbale district production and marketing officer, continued the routine monitoring of PDM projects in Bumasikye parishes.
Wanakina George, DPMO Mbale District LG says the objectives of PDM are wealth creation,  household income, employment creation, reducing vulnerability and improving welfare of the household
He made these submissions while carrying out PDM monitoring in Bumasikye Sub county, lubale parish in buwumba village.
The district PDM core team led by DPMO Mbale started with the meeting at the sub county hall, where PDM Sacco leaders from four parishes were briefed on proper guidelines on selecting beneficiaries for the third phase.

Wanakina echoed Sacco leaders to speed up with the process when time prevails.
The technical team at the sub county will lead me to households where PDM programs has already enrolled.

He trailed on performances at household level inline with listed projects.
Nambuya Grace, a poultry farmer in buwumba village labale parish, Bumasikye Sub county has over 50 local birds diversified by banana and coffee plantation.
The plantation receives the byproducts by maturing the green environment, the yields on ground replicates sustainable advancements.

Nambuya hinted that she is already enjoying the turnover, 20 birds were sold collecting 400k which she says was paid as fees for her grandson.

Musimbi Irene, a poultry farmer still in buwumba village also bought over 30 birds but says they have multiplied to a tune of 70 in a number.
She has also bought a calf at 350k on the money that remained after establishing a poultry farm.
Sakwa Nathan, a hot culture farmer in buwumba village, has taken tomato farming estimated for 3 months harvest.
Sakwa also deals in selling bananas (desserts), however this is just for continuous supplements to keep the returns high.

DPMO appealed to the farmer to enroll for microscale irrigation so as to boost the water efficiency on the farm.
Sakwa was called to pick the enrollment forms from the sub county agriculture officer to start on the process.
Nelima Agnes, a hot culture farmer in bufukhula village says she has acquired seeds, fertilizer, and pesticides waiting for the next season, the UN used money will be used for the purchase of tomato seeds.

Nelima attributed more on tomato varieties leading to SAFA F1 that should be the right type in such areas, adding that even the NPK fertilizer worthy 100kg is waiting for the season 

She says the first harvest was worth 500k which was used domestically.

Nelima remains positive that she will put a better yield with the prerequisites acquired so far.

Mayeku Luke, a piggery farmer has also registered success putting up a structure and acquiring the pigs.
However DPMO advised the farmer to dwell more on piggery as outlined in the implementation plan. This improves the well-being of the entire family by living a sustainable life.
Napokoli Sam, a hot culture farmer with tomato farming has already harvested once but has maintained the cycle in producing more tomatoes to a tune of earning two million to help him with subsidises.
Wanakina George Davidson, DPMO informed the farmer of rural irrigation equipment at 75% to support him avail sufficient water 💦.
Masette Godmas, a farmer in lubale village  deviated  the money into goat rearing from piggery enterprise.
He says" the reason why I deviated the selection is that I failed to get proper pigs.

Omunyi Gabriel, a hot culture farmer with onion farming in Nangirima lower. Omunyi says he bought 2kgs of onion seeds that will plant the entire garden.
He has also bought 4 piglets to diversify on the farming.
He says, some of the money is saved in the savings group which he intends to use during planting.

Omunyi has the projection of improving on the stock and getting a cow which will improve livestock.

Besides onions and piggery, some of the money was used to acquire seeds, pumper for spraying crops.

Nyachwo Doreen, a piggery farmer in Nangirima lower village.
Nyachwo also hired a plot to cultivate and plant  cassava.
She says cassava growing will add value by paying back the money and also pay fees for her children.
The only challenge is rain, once it starts raining, farming will begin.

Akakor Dorothy, a piggery farmer in Nangirima upper but on reaching the farmer, we found out she had bought a bull at 600k and a goat at 150k.

DPMO guided the farmer to set priorities that can help your well-being and sustain life.
Wanakina George, the DPMO emphasized to the farmer to get back to the planned enterprise she had earlier on requested 

Anyago Alice, a piggery farmer in Nangirima upper village.
On reaching the household, she was not around to answer the district PDM core team.
The husband says she bought a pig and a cow however she is to be revisited.
