PDM MONITORING IN BUKIENDE SUB COUNTY, BENEFICIARIES STEADILY YIELDING!

After the 1st and 2nd disbursements of PDM monies to all beneficiaries in Mbale district hit 100%, the district PDM core team started it's progress to monitor and assess households on entrepreneurships registered on its inception.

The impact is seemingly carrying successful stories so far, as beneficiaries begin to reflect on the second phase for which they are to invest in pillar one, production, storage, value addition and marketing.

 

The need to ascertain use of the use of funds is key for the success of the approach.

Bukiende Sub county consist of 7 Parishes all matching at 100%, for both first and second phase.

She says, goat rearing is aimed at improving household lives with sustainable income in the shortest period

Nandutu says the products are majorly for household consumptions until the production multiplies in future.

Muyama Juliet, a livestock farmer has an inspiring story.

She says the goats are likely to expand because the two are pregnant

Makayi Rogers for hot culture majorly on tomato growers 

The farmer hired the land, bought some seeds and prepared the garden.

"The business has been of success because I have recovered worthy 800k

 He is still recovering given the fact that the harvesting is still on, I expected over a million shillings at the end"

Makayi expects to change the enterprise to cabbage farming instead of tomatoes

Nambuya Phoebe chose coffee farming, under rehabilitation

 Bukiende and the district production and environmental departments visited her to see the coffee plantation 

Nambuya says the project has improved after rehabilitating by spot stamping out the the old trees bearing less fruits 

She has over four hundred trees bearing fruits and has a project of harvesting 300kgs in a season
