In regard to ensure agro mechanised agriculture, boosting food and income security as well as unlocking 2040 middle income status; Mbale district continues to empower farmers through government programs to thrive at household level. The selected farmers from the 14 sub counties and 3 town councils received a demonstration training courtesy of MAAIF under the coffee department today. The demonstration took place at the district works department before the handover ceremony. 10 Rice motorised thresher machines and 732 bags of  Fertiplus fertilizer from Agriculture Value Chain Project (AVCP) were issued to selected farmers across the entire district. An appeal to farmers from Mutuwa Regina Mabonga representing CAO was a call to desist from selling the fertilizer and other equipment but focus on modern farming so that poverty is reduced at family levels. The Uganda Police Force (UPF) has begun preparations to recruit 100,000 Special Police Constables (SPCs) to be deployed at polling stations nationwide in the general elections to be held in January next year. The recruitment drive, announced by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abas Byakagaba, has already commenced with the identification and training of police personnel who will oversee the recruitment exercise across the country. According to IGP Byakagaba, all polling station personnel will be recruited and deployed in their areas of residence to ensure orderliness inside polling stations on voting days. Justice Simon Byabakama, the head of the Electoral Commission, notes that Uganda currently has 34,344 polling stations. Diana Nandawula, the Deputy Police Spokesperson, said once the process to identify the police officers who will conduct the recruitment exercise and the recruitment centres is done, the announcement inviting the interested applicants will be made. https...
