FARMERS TRAINED ON HIGH VALUE VEGETABLES & FRUITS

Over 50 farmers selected from 14 subcounties and three Town Councils in Mbale District had a field day in Tubii village, Buwangadya parish in Budwale Subcounty at Bukingala primary school today. The field day converged farmers across the district, community duelers, both political and technical staff mostly from the production department. Namukowa Bernard, the extension worker at Budwale Subcounty while giving remarks noted that the selected farmers were meant to be; * Showcased how extension services are done in the district. * Showcased technologies on irrigation schemes supported by Ugift on micro scale farming. * Production of high value vegetables and fruits * Other farming interventions on the farm include Soil and water conservation measures, coffee and banana production. * 4 acreage model farming strategy for sustainable development goals. NAMIKHOMA BRIDGE, A SATISFYING PROJECT

The Office Of Resident District Commissioner. Namisindwa, Eastern Uganda  On Thursday 25th July 2024,the  Office of the RDC  NAMISINDWA, together with other stake holders visited outstanding projects in the district, for purposes of monitoring.  NAMIKHOMA BRIDGE, a project worth UGX. 330million. Upon reaching the site where the construction is taking place, team was pleased with the quality of work done as the BOQ was strictly being adhered to by the contractor. The wanachi were as well excited as about 40 of them were employed as casual  labourers. They are as well involved in monitoring the project and are grateful to the government. We thank our able government for such projects in the District as they improve quality of life of the citizens.

BULAMBULI FARMERS DECRY OF COFFEE PESTS AND DISEASES.

Makawa Brian Mbale. Coffee farmers in the Buginyanya and Bumgibole sub-counties of Balambuli district have expressed concerns over the increasing prevalence of coffee pests and diseases, negatively impacting their coffee yields. These grievances were aired during an event organized by Bulambuli Kwigate Coffee Limited in partnership with Darley Investments Limited, where the best farmers of the season were awarded, with the top farmer receiving a motorcycle and various gifts. The event was organized with the aim of building relationship between farmers, suppliers,local leaders and other stakeholders. Farmers reported that the coffee cherries change color from red to black due to Coffee Berry Disease (CBD). Gimei Justine, a coffee farmer from Buginyanya Sub-County, mentioned that pests and diseases have significantly affected their expected output. A WOMAN IN BUNGOKHO DOING WITCHCRAFT

For over 11 years now, a neighbor's house has undergone witchcraft in wabukhasa village Bushikori parish, BUNGOKHO sub county. The Spotlight News channel community reporter says,  "The person she has been bewitching is abroad and the guy has been trying to complete the house for the past 11 years but all in vain until Thursday when a tired neighbour who has been  witnessing her do it decided to record and publish". A video clip was shared while this evil woman was doing an unusual thing in an incomplete house. A TRANSFORMATIVE CHILD NEEDS TO BE EDUCATED TODAY!

The international day of the African child, has been celebrated on June 16th every year since 1991. Mbale District celebrated it on 18th July 2024 at Bungokho Subcounty Headquarters with the theme: Education to children in Africa: The time is now. Government of Uganda under the NRM, embarked on universal primary education as a means into transformative and empowering children and  a means for accessing broad economic, social, political and cultural heritage attached. Realistically, primary education is a powerful driver for realizing the millennium development goals and Sustainable Development goals. Over 8.7m million pupils are currently registered under UPE today compared to three million in 1996.
