KUMI DISTRICT FOR SOCIAL ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION

RDC Washaki Ahammad  Kumi District  Her Excellency, Toto Maj Rtd Jessica Alupo, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, for visited IDI Kumi to appreciate their efforts in Social Economic Transformation, to communities in Kumi and other Districts. The Vice President, called upon local leaders to always support initiatives by development partners in their areas to foster development. She also called upon us RDCs, RDCs our Deputies and Assistants to always articulate Government programs and policies that target to pull our communities from poverty. Hon Sidonious Okaasai, State Minister for Energy, also committed to continue guiding communities towards social economic transformation.

MBALE DISTRICT ON STEADY PROGRESS OVER GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS

During today's meeting at the district headquarters in lukhobo hall, the district departmental and sector heads were brought to table to review the performances most especially on government funding. The reports presented by all the heads were satisfying though few anomalies were cited. Under Health Areas on absenteeism in health is now at 8% as per now because we have encouraged and disciplined our staff under sanctions and rewards committee The other emphasis now is on stock management of the medicine which is now a challenge because of rare supplies and under estimates in some facilities, thus implying stock management to boost medicines covering 92% on a quarterly basis. Bududa and Butaleja Leaders Develop Comprehensive Disaster Management Plan.

Local leaders and civil servants in Bududa and Butaleja districts have collaboratively developed a disaster management contingency plan aimed at effectively addressing disasters in their regions. The plan, supported by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and its consortium partners with funding from European Union Humanitarian Aid, was disseminated at a meeting held at Mt Elgon Hotel in Mbale on Monday 20th- August 2024.  The leaders emphasized that this plan is crucial in tackling the recurrent disasters that have led to the loss of lives, destruction of property, and hampered development in these districts. The contingency plan adopts a bottom-up approach, focusing on identifying disaster risks, providing solutions, and establishing localized institutions and guidelines.
